Hallow Eve, the haunting time.
The time for spirits to rise.
To clatter bones, to make loud moans.
And disappear right before your eyes.
The clattering and the racket,
I can stand that for quite sometime.
But, that disappearing into thin air,
Well, that’s not a favorite of mine.
The children seem so excited.
They have no idea this is real.
They dress up like ghosts and goblins,
And march out with bags to fill.
Someday, when they’re much older,
And the north wind blows so cold,
They’ll see a true ghost come sailing,
And remember what they were told.
“Beware of witches and ghosts alike.
Beware of what clatters in the night.
And on Hallow Eve, always be with at least two.
For that lowly spirit may be looking for you!”
