Bound
I watched a wet leaf, fall from the top
It flowed gently through the mist, without a stop
Then the breeze blew it to another tree
It balanced on a branch to the count of three
It continued to drop and float lower down
Then it kissed another leaf and they became bound
Overhead a hawk circled and flew
He didn’t see the leaf, he was too intent, I knew
He glided on the wind in a circular motion
Filling my heart with a longing emotion
Then the crows came and chased him away
His was the hunters life, not bound to stay.
As we go through life, you and me,
Do we drift gently or intently see?
Are we floating on hot air, high above?
Or do we fall and fill our hearts with love?
Are there little sweet things, that we might miss?
Little gentle things, like a lovers kiss!
I think that I shall flow gently down
Letting life blow me all around.
There will be no need to be chased away.
I’ll merely float with the winds, and smile all day
It’s a mellow trip, drifting loose and free
I hope, my darlin’, you can flow with me.
